CyberAdvisor: Get to know Contisystems' new brand

Cybersecurity is increasingly high on companies' priorities. However, it is a topic that usually involves high investments in terms of security solutions and systems, training and resources, and is therefore out of reach for the vast majority of small and medium-sized Portuguese companies.

As processors of sensitive data and working with heavily regulated entities for several decades, we have developed strong cybersecurity skills and competencies.

This is why we decided to use our know-how in this area and put it at the service of national companies that don't have the capacity to have their own cybersecurity department.

And so the CyberAdvisor brand was born.

What services does CyberAdvisor offer?

CyberAdvisor is supported by a team with different levels of expertise in cybersecurity, which is reflected in different types of service, adapted to the needs of each company:

Cybersecurity Domain Scan

It consists of a rapid assessment, based on public data available on the internet about your domain and using as a reference a set of risk vectors identified as relevant to your sector.

Cyber Risk Mitigation

This is our most comprehensive program, which can be customized according to your company's needs. As a rule, we start this plan with a full assessment of your company's cybersecurity maturity. Once the main vulnerabilities have been identified, we propose a prioritized action plan together with the organization. We also monitor its implementation step by step so that these vulnerabilities are controlled or mitigated in the most appropriate way for the organization's context. And because people are a key part of proper cybersecurity risk management, we provide training and information at all stages of this process.

Vulnerability & Threat assessment

We carry out an isolated assessment of the vulnerabilities, whether technological or not, that pose a risk to your company.

Cybersecurity Policy

We design policies and procedures tailored to the context, business and reality of each company to support cybersecurity.

What is our CyberAdvisor offer for?

While cybersecurity insurance is very useful, remember that it doesn't prevent incidents, it only minimizes the financial impact associated with them. And it's usual for this type of insurance to have prerequisites that the organization must demonstrate in terms of information security.

Using this type of consultancy makes you aware of your level of exposure to risk and how you can manage it, finding the best strategies to protect your information assets.

It is also increasingly common for large companies to demand cybersecurity guarantees from their suppliers, either through ratings or qualification and evaluation processes.

We can help you prepare so that no business is jeopardized for this reason.

Contact us and we will quickly carry out a Domain Scan that will give you visibility of the public-level risks to which you are exposed so that you can manage them properly. At a later stage, if you feel it is justified, we can carry out a Cyber Risk Mitigation project which will involve a more in-depth analysis.

Don't put it off, your business deserves to be protected, and it can't stop.

Today we celebrate 1000 days without serious accidents!

This celebration is the result of a profound change in the way we operate and we are very grateful for everyone's commitment to this transformation.

To commemorate this milestone, we invited our employees to take part in a short video on the subject of safety. See how it turned out!

Furthermore, and because the reward is well-deserved, we share that all Contisystems employees have been given an additional day off.

Let's keep it up, breaking records and celebrating new achievements!

Join us in our mission to reduce your company's ecological footprint

Reducing our ecological footprint is now mission critical.

If there are big projects at a national or even global level that have a big impact, we believe that it's also those many small everyday things that make a difference.

As individuals and as a company, we all have the ability to make a positive contribution to this mission and the more of us who take this step, the greater the impact these little things can have. We've decided to share here some simple initiatives that we've developed at Contisystems, some of which were suggested by employees and which we hope can inspire you on your journey to reduce your ecological footprint.

1. Invest in ecologically sustainable materials - FSC paper, recycled plastic and PLA.

In terms of business, we are committed to being prepared to produce with ecologically sustainable materials and we want to ensure that they have as environmentally friendly a life cycle as possible. However, we have experienced that, despite our FSC certification, the vast majority of printing jobs are still done on regular paper. Similarly, even though we offer several options in our card range with recycled plastic or even biodegradable materials such as PLA, the vast majority of cards are still made with standard PVC.

We know that cost increases can sometimes have an influence on these choices, but we also know that if we really want the world to change, we can't just rely on the actions of others. We believe that the effort must be joint if the effect is to be strong.

For this reason, we make sure that on the materials we sell that are ecologically sustainable, our margins are lower. The aim is to share with our customers the cost of using materials that reduce our ecological footprint and thus contribute to a higher percentage of jobs being done with these materials.

2. We replace plastic bottles with glass

We distribute glass bottles throughout the meeting rooms, placing water purifiers throughout our facilities so that everyone can fill up their bottles in the company using mains water.

This initiative makes it possible to avoid using more than 20,000 plastic bottles a year.

3. Waste bins and recycling bins in each room

As is common in companies, we used to have a waste bin at every workstation. It's practical and convenient, but do you know how many plastic bags are used unnecessarily? And the waste that isn't separated out of convenience?

With this initiative we placed a waste bin and mini-ecopoint in each area of the company, thus optimizing waste collection by the cleaning services, saving on the number of plastic bags used and encouraging waste separation.

At Contisystems we were spending 5,000 more plastic bags a year than we needed to!

4. Energy efficiency awareness campaign

It's not always possible to install control and monitoring systems and intelligent action in companies that allow for more efficient consumption of resources, but we can't forget the potential of raising awareness to change behavior.

At Contisystems we implemented a campaign to raise awareness of energy and water consumption by placing notes in strategic places.

5. Effective waste treatment

As individuals, we have in our hands the ability to contribute to more effective waste treatment by separating our household waste. As a company, we have a responsibility to ensure that systems are in place to ensure that our end-of-life products are treated correctly to reduce their impact on the environment.

At Contisystems, we are committed to ensuring increasingly effective and comprehensive waste treatment, both in the office and in manufacturing, and even at the end of life of the products we sell.

We can't think of reducing our ecological footprint as something that can be achieved immediately and in large volumes. We have to take steps and make progress.

We issue a challenge: regardless of the big projects you may be involved in, try gradually implementing small actions, gradually changing small behaviors, and in the end you'll see that all those small actions make a big difference too.

Privacy - A value to defend

January 28th marks the 15th edition of Data Protection Day. This day aims to raise awareness in civil society about the rights related to the protection of personal data and privacy.

Data Protection Day marks the day on which Convention 108 - the first international legal instrument on the protection of personal data - was signed on January 28, 1981.

The importance of data privacy

We are all aware that data is becoming extremely important to the economy and to our daily lives, existing in increasing abundance and with potential uses that many of us probably can't even imagine. While this reality offers incredible opportunities, robust rules need to be put in place to deal with potential risks for individuals, companies and democracies in general.

At Contisystems, the reality and concern of dealing with personal data has been around for many years and this has always been reflected in the technical and organizational security measures that have been created and adapted to the risk of each situation.

The emergence of the GDPR

In 1998, Law 67/98 - the Personal Data Protection Act - was published, which already referred to similar obligations to the GDPR.

Although the GDPR came into force in May 2016, its legal application only began two years later, in May 2018, allowing companies time to prepare. And it was only in 2019 that the first law on personal data protection (Law 67/98) was repealed, via Law 58/2019, of 09/08/2019, which transposes the GDPR into national law.

The major change in terms of data protection imposed by the GDPR was the counter-regulatory regime, with regard to the amount of fines, which can be huge. This was the main "boost" that made companies start looking at data protection as a financial risk that they had to ensure and control.

The emergence of the position of "Data Protection Officer - the DPO" has also changed the paradigm of organizations by imposing the existence of a position that reports directly to the highest level of the organization on all issues related to the protection of personal data.

In June 2019, Contisystems took another step on the road to information security management with ISO 27001 certification, which reflects the recognition of the work done so far to protect our customers' data.

Ensure data protection and prevent

Twenty months after the General Data Protection Regulation came into force, we see that it has acted as a catalyst to put data protection at the heart of the debate in a wide variety of sectors.

With this path and several years of practice in data management, we have invested in the technical and organizational measures that we consider most critical to ensuring data protection and preventing data breaches. We can't resist sharing a few examples:

  • Raising awareness and training staff in information security and data protection;
  • Data Loss Protection technical solutions, multi-factor authentication, monitoring platforms, incident management applications, among others;
  • Data protection by design and by default, including prior impact assessments that allow us to effectively apply protection principles and include the necessary guarantees in the processing. In this way, we simultaneously protect our legal compliance and the rights of data subjects.

Contisystems has always acted diligently to protect its data and the data entrusted to it by its clients. Data Protection Day is always marked to keep in mind the importance of this issue in everyone's daily lives.
