Helena's secret to smiling every day

Helena has been working with us for 3 years and stands out for her infectious cheerfulness and smile, so we went to find out the secret to her good mood.

Hello Helena, thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us! You already know that the first question is always the same... where are you from?

- I was born here in São Domingos de Rana, I've always lived, studied and worked here.

But not at Contisystems, you've only just arrived here... Where was your first job?

- I started working when I was 16, I needed to help my family. I went to work for an aquarium company that imported fish and reptiles. I received the fish and reptiles and had to take care of them until they were shipped out. At the time it didn't bother me, today I don't know if I'd touch a snake again... I spent five years in that role, then moved into accounting within the same company.

Accounting, that's very different, do you like it?

- Yes, accounting was something I always liked, a pet.

Did you stay long in that company?

- Yes, I spent 23 years in accounting (28 in the company). The atmosphere was very family-oriented, when I joined there were only five of us and that's where I met my husband (I got married when I was 20). Then the company grew to 40 people.

And then did you want to change?

- No! When I work for a company, I wear the jersey to the end. I live my contribution to the company with great joy and commitment. But unfortunately the company ran into some difficulties and I went on unemployment. But I didn't stand still because I'm not like that, I kept doing a few things: I got my license, did some part-time accounting, ...

And How did Contisystems appear?

- Once my husband spoke to someone here who suggested I send my CV to Contisystems, and they called me. When I came to Contisystems, I went to work in the finishing area of the factory and spent more than two years there. I'm very curious and I'd go and see what my colleagues were doing and I really enjoyed learning how some things were done. Now I've moved to the card production area and it's amazing because I've been able to learn a lot more.

And you're enjoying it?

- Yes, I'm really enjoying it. It's very different from factory work. In the factory it was the body that got tired, here it's the head. It takes a lot of concentration, there's no room for failure.

So now that now that we know a bit about your story, tell us your secret Helena! How is it possible that you always have that beautiful, contagious smile? You never wake up in a bad mood?

- Hahahaha. I have no secrets. I try to live each day with joy and dedicate myself to my job with great commitment. As I said, I always wear the shirt of the place where I work. And then there's my family...

Ahhh! There are two good secrets! Tell us more about your family...

- I have a very close family, we're very supportive. Even when we don't spend much time together physically. I work shifts and my husband is very dedicated to his work... but together we've always found the strength to keep smiling. Then there are my daughters and my grandson... I have 2 daughters, one 20 and one 26. And I've been Gustavo's proud grandmother for 8 months now!

And in the time you have to yourself, what do you like to do?

- I don't have much time for myself, but I love reading! Even when I leave my shift late, I don't fall asleep without reading a bit, I don't usually fall asleep before 4am...
