If you've never been frightened by change, raise your hand

Change, be it geography, leadership or a simple change of software version, can generate anxiety that is not always well received. With all the challenges it imposes, routine is a sure thing and offers us the peace of mind of knowing where we're going, both personally and professionally.

The level of security the change offers us, the impact it has and the ease with which it can be implemented can make it more or less real.

On a professional level, change has the aggravating factor of responsibility, because we are making a decision that affects not only us, but the entire organization, and the choice to change will always be more controversial, as it challenges the established routine. But the risk of not changing, of becoming complacent, is also high, so it's essential to look for changes that have an impact, that bring us security and that don't worsen the organization's work routine.

Let's take an example from Contisystems to show you what an easy and safe change can be, once the respective impacts have been assessed.

A smart card, because it contains personal data, and even financial data in the case of bank cards, is a critical instrument in the relationship with your customer. Ensuring that it is produced, personalized and delivered securely is naturally a huge concern, which is why changing supplier at this level may, due to the impact it has, require a more careful assessment. However, this change can offer you security if you realize that there are good references and that the change process is simple and easy.

Replacing the personalizer for Portuguese issuers is an easy and secure process. In fact, all they have to do is make changes to the content of the logical file they send to the data generating entity. This change is made in two fields, in the field relating to the personalization entity, which will now be "Contisystems", and in the field relating to the entity sending the personalization file, which will also be filled in with a different description.

Before sending the logical file to the data generating entity, issuers must generate a Transport Key for the new personalizer with that same entity. This new key will be used to encrypt the sensitive data in the card personalization file.

Once Contisystems has received the card personalization file and the Transport Key and all the above interactions have been guaranteed, it can then personalize the test cards for certification which will be delivered to the issuer, together with a personalization report.

After the BIN certification process for the respective Brand (VISA or MASTERCARD), during which they will be fully supported, Contisystems is certified for the customization in question.

If a new credit or debit card is a challenge for you, let us help you and show you that changing card providers and personalization, or having more than one, is simple and brings you many advantages. Take the opportunity to get to know our Payment Solutions offer.

Cards for all shapes and sizes

Although immediately associated with payments and banking, cards are now used in a wide variety of business sectors as a means of payment, identification and even loyalty.

Any wallet today is stuffed with several cards, not to mention those that are left at home because they are no longer useful. However, the card remains an extremely important physical element for materializing the association with a brand or a company.

In this context, care and consideration must be redoubled when choosing a card that will materialize a brand or a company. As well as reflecting the values of the brand and being an extension of it into the physical world, it must stand out from the competition in order to occupy space in the wallet and be effectively used.

Cards are manufactured in a wide variety of materials and styles, precisely so that you can choose the ideal card for every situation. The range of materials, formats, styles, colors and/or finishes is so wide that it can be fully adjusted to the desired end result and the impact you want to achieve with the end user.

Here are some ideas of the possibilities to consider when choosing a card:

Standard ID cards

Standard ID cards are made from durable and flexible PVC plastic. These cards are used for all applications and are available in various sizes and colors.

BioPVC cards

BioPVC cards are an environmentally friendly option made from completely biodegradable material. This type of material offers the same photo quality, durability and flexibility as a standard PVC card with less impact on the environment.

Recycled PVC cards

Recycled PVC cards are another green alternative to traditional PVC cards, as they are made from recycled plastic. Recycled PVC material is comparable to standard PVC in durability, flexibility and print quality.

Rewritable ID cards

Rewritable ID cards are made of a heat-sensitive material that can be printed, erased and reprinted up to 500 times. These cards require an ID card printer with a rewritable printing mode. As rewritable cards can only be printed in monochrome blue or black, they are ideal for card designs with simple text or graphics.

PVC cards with adhesive backing

Adhesive cards are PVC cards with a strong Mylar adhesive. They are usually attached to proximity cards linked to other technology cards that cannot pass through an ID card printer.

PVC cards / Poly Composite

PVC / Poly composite cards are recommended for cards that are to be laminated. Their special materials can withstand the highest heat and resist warping during the lamination process.

Cards with UV ink

In the manufacturing process for this type of card, a UV ink is applied so that it reacts with black light.

Cards with transparencies

These cards are produced in such a way that it is possible to see through them, thus allowing them to be combined with branding elements and a visual image with a lot of impact.

PVC cards with metal foil

Cards produced with metallic foil that gives them a high-quality metallic finish.

Embossed cards

These are cards whose manufacturing process incorporates the application of embossing in order to reinforce the user's senses, particularly visual imagery and sensitivity to touch.

Perfume Cards

Cards containing microcapsules with a long-lasting essence. This helps to draw attention to the specific card and allows for a greater connection to the brand, as there are numerous essences available.

Cards with RFID, Chip and Magnetic Stripe technology

The range of products and combinations of a PVC card with RFID, Chip and Magnetic Stripe technology is very extensive, and each technology can be inserted according to its intended use.

In addition to these options and combinations of technologies, materials, aromas, colors and textures, you can also apply cut-outs, color the edges or apply 3D effects to the card. Contisystems not only provides the personalization service, but also supports its customers in defining the ideal card for each scenario.
